Client Experience
At CuraWest we are committed to providing our clients with a treatment experience unlike any other in the Denver, Colorado area. We help individuals heal from the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual devastation caused by addiction as they settle into their authentic selves and continue to grow in their recovery. Our main goal is to provide each client with a truly transformative experience. We aim to do more than help people overcome addiction — our priority is to help people build healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives while thriving in all that they do.
At CuraWest we attain these goals by providing our clients with a full continuum of clinical care. Medically monitored detox is an important initial step on nearly every journey of recovery. While in the detox portion of our program, clients undergo a safe and comfortable drug or alcohol withdrawal under the close supervision of licensed medical professionals. Once they have been physically stabilized they are encouraged to transition into our residential program, where they will continue healing for up to 3 weeks.
Our multi-staged treatment program has been strategically designed by a team of medical and therapeutic professionals with decades of experience in addiction treatment and mental health.
All of our staff members have been carefully selected for their expertise in addiction treatment, their integrity, character, professionalism and passion for helping others find freedom from substance use disorders of all kinds.
Our approach is three-fold: we focus on a complete restoration of health concerning the body, mind, and spirit. We combine proven therapies with innovative, holistic approaches to recovery, helping our clients heal while teaching them how to build a beautiful and fulfilling life in sobriety. Our client experience always prioritizes the individual, and the extensive clinical services we provide have quickly garnered us a reputation as one of the most progressive and effective addiction treatment programs in the state of Colorado.
Integrated Addiction Treatment in Denver, Colorado
At CuraWest we do much more than help people get sober. We provide people with the motivation and skills they need to stay sober.
Addiction is a chronic, progressive, and relapsing medical condition — one that deeply affects all areas of a person’s life. Those who make the decision to seek professional help often find themselves in a place of personal ruin. Their interpersonal relationships have suffered, their careers have crumbled around them, their finances are a mess, and they can hardly stand to look at themselves in the mirror.
Reaching out for help can be challenging. You likely know you have a great deal of work ahead of you. Not only do you need to learn how to stay sober, but you need to repair the areas of your life that have suffered as a result of your addiction. Dealing with the consequences of addiction is hard work, but you do not have to attempt it alone. At CuraWest we are available to help you work through existing challenges while building a personally fulfilling life in recovery.
Many clinical programs focus the majority of their attention on stabilization. They help clients safely move through withdrawal and set them up with a generic plan of action. Go to therapy, stay involved in AA, don’t drink or drug no matter what. At CuraWest we understand how individualized the experience of active addiction is, and how personalized addiction treatment must be in order to be thoroughly effective. There is no cookie-cutter solution for drug and alcohol dependence. We take the time to get to know each of our clients on a one-on-one basis, and develop an integrated addiction treatment plan based solely on their unique needs.
What to Expect
When entering our treatment program you can expect to be treated as an individual. You will be treated with nothing but kindness, compassion, and respect. No matter what challenges you are facing you will be guided and supported by our team of dedicated staff members. Because many of our staff members have overcome addiction themselves, they consistently come from a place of empathy and understanding. We have carefully chosen each staff member for their clinical and holistic strengths, and because we believe they can offer something invaluable to those we serve.
We encourage you to voice your needs. As soon as you do, you can expect us to do everything in our power to ensure these needs are met. At CuraWest, recovery is a collaborative effort. We don’t take a “we know what’s best” stance. We listen, we encourage open and honest communication, we work together to develop a plan of action that feels right for you. None of the services we offer are required — we will adjust our program so that you feel excited to engage in treatment. You can expect flexible and effective care.
At CuraWest, we want our clients to feel as safe and comfortable as possible. You can expect us to prioritize your comfort by providing you with a range of homestyle retreat amenities and ancillary services, from catered meals and a fully-stocked snackbar to well-appointed common areas and spacious group rooms. You can expect to heal in an environment that feels like home.

Medically Monitored Detox
Our client experience takes a multi-phased approach to treatment. Clients are encouraged to begin their personal recovery journeys with a short stay in our inpatient detox center. Here, they undergo a safe, comfortable drug and/or alcohol withdrawal in a closely supervised environment. Vitals are regularly checked, comfort is always prioritized, and withdrawal symptoms are treated as soon as they develop. Depending on the severity of the substance use disorder and the presence of underlying conditions, detox lasts for between 3 and 10 days. Clients are introduced to the remainder of the treatment process and given the opportunity to transition into the residential portion of our program as soon as they have been physically stabilized.
Residential Inpatient Treatment
The second phase of our client experience is residential inpatient treatment. During this phase of the process, clients undergo intensive therapy and begin to heal on a more comprehensive basis. Every weekday is packed full of opportunities for personal growth (view an example of a daily schedule here). Depending on the needs of the client, residential treatment lasts for between 3 and 21 days.

We believe in the power of holistic healing. At CuraWest we focus on the mind, body, and spirit. We value interconnectedness — not just with other people, but with the world around us. Because addiction is an isolating and desolating condition, it is essential for those who are committed to recovery to begin forging authentic bonds and developing personal passions. We value exploration. We encourage you to find healthy and fulfilling ways to spend your free time. Our main goal is helping you build a life you can’t wait to wake up to every morning. A life you look forward to living.
Developing a Plan for Continuing Care
Each of our clients can expect to leave medical detox and residential treatment with a plan for continuing care in place. Entering into a treatment program is the first step on the road of recovery, but because addiction is a chronic medical condition, treatment must be ongoing in order for sobriety to be maintained. We take the following into account when developing a plan for continuing care:
- Was the client suffering from a mild or moderate substance use disorder, one which was thoroughly and adequately addressed in residential treatment? If the substance use disorder was severe, is a step-down level of clinical care a good idea?
- Is the client simultaneously healing from an underlying mental illness, unresolved trauma, or another, co-occurring issue that requires additional attention?
- Was the client resistant to 12 Step program involvement? If so, was another form of peer support explored? How did the client respond to alternative options?
- Is the client returning home immediately following treatment, or are they open to living in a sober home for a predetermined period of time as they navigate early sobriety?
- What are the clients personal plans following treatment? Are they planning on continuing with their educational pursuits, returning to their career, finding a new job that aligns with their sobriety?
- If the client is returning home, are they returning to a safe and supportive environment?
- Did the client respond well to certain therapeutic techniques? Would they benefit from continuing with an individual therapist who is licensed and/or trained in these techniques?
- Would the client benefit from continuing with some degree of psychiatric care?
At CuraWest we do everything in our power to set our clients up for continued success in sobriety. To learn more about our aftercare planning process, contact us today.
